Production Manager – UK

Position Title: Production Manager

Job Purpose: Support the planning,  project scoping, project delivery, freelance/supplier management system of production plus on site management and delivery of our production services to our clients for both live streamed and face-to-face programmes.

Reports To: Production Director

Key Responsibilities

To direct, create and deliver creative production concepts contributing to the continued growth and profitability of the business and building our reputation for ‘Exceptional Experiences delivered by Exceptional People’. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of creativity and innovation while ensuring quality in your work from within the production team.

Support the planning,  project scoping, project delivery, freelance/supplier management system of production plus on site management and delivery of our production services to our clients for both live streamed and face-to-face programmes.

Support the team management of profitable, prestigious client events where production is involved, using staff and other resources in preparation, planning and delivery, globally, exceeding client business objectives and expectations.

As a subject matter expert, you will:

  • Drive ideas generation and creative brainstorming on projects
  • Lead production interpretation and technical direction of new and existing event creative approaches, working with content and design teams
  • Challenge the project team and client team approach to delivery to ensure clients, budget and creative positioning are being thoroughly explored and the most effectives solutions put in place.
  • Have experience of streaming, designing and developing virtual programmes including the determination of the relevant work-flow, hardware, software and staffing required
  • Ensure all business critical deadlines are met for production delivery
  • Manage the production budget in consultation with the project lead
  • Understand of video production and relevance to live and virtual programmes
  • Possess technical understanding of crew management, construction equipment, supplier management & scheduling
  • A good working knowledge of venue, staff, Health & Safety laws and Construction Design & Manufactures regulations
  • Support new business opportunities with the department and teams on production & full service business leads – support setting the projects up to succeed
  • Preferable experience of managing pitches and projects, help to translate briefs into innovative, appealing and commercially viable production solutions
  • Support with the training and education of Production as part of the Creative offering to the internal teams

Financial management:

  • Review and approve production costings including supplier quotations for all production projects
  • Develop a working knowledge of internal financial system and processes i.e. Oracle
  • Ensuring that every opportunity is taken to maximise revenue during a live project
  • Monitor budget control of production elements
  • Be fully aware of freelancer accounting processes in line with the company policy
  • Work with Production Director on forecasting and budgeting
  • Responsible for reinforcing the Company’s Business Practice Policies on client billing, including closure of the job within the time period stated in client SLA’s
  • Responsibility for reconciliation / approval of jobs with final sign off by Account Director / Production Director

  • Be commercially savvy, good at developing client trust and relationships
  • Team player, and mentor to junior members of staff

Personal Profile:

An excellent event production CV with at least 5+ years of relevant creative experience working in technical production with a live events & communications agency or production company.

A methodical, practical approach, a problem solver combined with imaginative approach with a can-do attitude and love for event production. Experience in a corporate background with responsibility for the technical execution of an individual or series of events by making sure the technical solution complements the creative and content, helping reflects accurately the messaging and bringing the project to life though scenic, video and lighting solutions.

A desire to maximise the attendee experience through creative technical solutions in the virtual, live and hybrid environments.

Role Requirements:

  • 5 + years of production experience in a major agency, communications company or production company.
  • Experience with a variety of types of events, including conferences, concerts/evening events, hospitality experiences and consumer activations.
  • Streaming and broadcast knowledge and expertise
  • Expertise in leading delivery for global production programmes
  • Extensive technical network for supplier and freelance
  • Familiar with agency environment and working cross functionally with creative teams
  • Previous experience in healthcare/life sciences, education, financial sectors would be beneficial
  • Experience in managing budgets of at least £500k and greater.
  • Strong project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, and client relations.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft and Apple applications, collaborative team project software, etc.
  • AutoCad preferable
